Turner Industries Group is hiring a CapEx Mechanical
Superintendent to join our team in the Houston, TX area. The
Mechanical Superintendent reports directly to the Project Manager
functionally and administratively. The Mechanical Superintendent is
responsible for the management of the field execution of CapEx
activities in all phases including planning, scheduling, estimating
and then executing CapEx projects and turnarounds. As part of the
planning process the Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for
engagement with all field activities and ensuring all requirements
to execute daily work scopes have been addressed and provided.The
Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for the management and
coordination of all field supervision including subcontractors, the
monitoring and reporting of all field changes to work scope and/or
critical path, timely reporting of all field issues to site and
client management, attending all required execution/planning
meetings, and field coordination of all daily activities.Minimum
Requirements:
- 10 years experience in supervision overseeing mechanical craft
work in a petrochemical environment.
- Must have a heavy background in mechanical/ piping work.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or CSST Certification with a background in
Safety HIGHLY preferred.Role description:The mechanical
superintendent is the most critical role during the execution of
all daily activities. The mechanical superintendent's chief
responsibility is to maintain the core values of Turner Industries
Group Zero Incident Performance and manage the daily activities in
the field as set forth by the schedule.Job Duties:
- Coordinate with all contractor supervision assigned to the
project and be a large contributor of engagement across the
facility continually driving the safety culture of a Goal Zero
mindset.
- Will report to the Turner Project Manager.
- Provide leadership and team building, influencing our
front-line leadership leading by example and participate in the
continuous professional development of our nested workforce.
- Help organize material to be presented during Supervisors or
Craft Toolbox Safety Meetings.
- Perform both formal and impromptu safety and health
audits.
- Assess safety and performance and recommend corrective
actions.
- Perform and/or review all safety reports, transmitting them to
Regional Safety Manager and other management, as necessary.
- The mechanical superintendent will be expected to coordinate
all work scopes in the assigned facility.

- Safety
- Staff additions/deletions
- Environmental
- Security
- Project controls
- Contracts
- Materials
- Engineering
- Financial
- Quality Control/Inspection
- Must have detailed knowledge and understanding of all client
work packages relevant to primarily small capital project
activities.
- Identify and make recommendations to remove obstacles that
develop during daily workflow.
- Will know the Schedule and drive the schedule to an efficient
and highly effective execution. No work will be performed that
isn't scheduled without client approvals and discussions with site
leadership.
- Ensure updates are made on time each day. The craft Supervisor
will be responsible for providing updates to the area scheduler,
but the superintendent is the final arbiter of completion status of
all daily activities.
- Physically understand where each job is in the field over
time.
- Know the location of equipment. (In-plant/out of plant: in each
unit, wash pad, paint area, repair shop, weld shop, outside vendor
shops, etc.)
- Coordinate with various work groups i.e. shops, vendors,
inspection, wash pad, etc.
- Capable of evaluating repair and cost options on equipment in
the unit.
- Work with Operations and/or Environmental as necessary on
appropriate procedures for all daily activities.
- Direct equipment and resources to move equipment to and from
unit, as well as, outside shops.
- Cognizant of work delays in schedule. (Equipment in shops, wash
pad, laydown yard, equipment not being worked on, resource
availability, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot and review obstacles to scheduled
work.
- Ability to read and understand productivity reports to
understand and evaluate productivity by crew.
- Must be able to navigate Power-BI and all Microsoft
products.
- Work with various groups i.e. Operations, Maintenance,
subcontractors, field supervision on scheduling, work scope
completion, cost, etc.
- Quality Captain Role for their area, including responsibility
for auditing of quality process in their area.
- Ensure any equipment or material ordered during execution for
their area has proper authorization form.
- Looks for opportunities to reduce cost and improve
schedule.
- Help organize material to be presented during Supervisors or
Craft Toolbox Safety Meetings.Physical Involvement:Employee may be
required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds,
structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance
on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions,
handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the
movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and
equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level,
and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.;
standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling;
crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction;
hearing with or without correction.
