OverviewThe Membership Director will be responsible for the acquisition of new members and retention of current members. Must supervise the staff team, work with all branch leadership to ensure a satisfactory member experience, manage the department budget, and comply with association expectations of the membership department.Schedule

• Full Time - Exempt
• Must have a flexible schedule. Some weekends required.Responsibilities
  • Proactively generate, maintain, and evaluate budgets. Develop year-end forecasting for the membership budget.
  • Effectively recruit, select, and develop assigned teams.
  • Provide necessary staff training and development in support of the member service department.
  • Ensure staff meet established goals.
  • Execute quality member sales, quality program registration, and track required sales statistics.
  • Develop and implement communication plans for the department.
  • Oversee member service and program service ensuring a high-quality member experience.
  • Ensure proper handling of membership draft, cash handling, and YMCA membership NSF collection processing.
  • Handle facility and program emergencies and safety problems as they arise.
  • Resolve member complaints and concerns as they arise.
  • Staff liaison in the Annual Support Campaign.
  • Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.

  • Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience.
    • 3+ years of experience in membership or a customer service field.
    • 2+ years supervising two or more staff.YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
